Volunteering at St. Mary's

To assure quality pastoral care for our children, teens and vulnerable adults, St Mary’s and the Archdiocese of Baltimore require all parish volunteers to complete the most current child protection training. All volunteers at St. Mary’s are considered “Substantial Contact w/children” and need the full training which includes a brief online training, required documents, and background check/criminal history screening with three references, before volunteering. Completing the requirements for “Substantial Contact with Children” allows for volunteering in any ministry, event or activity. This training needs to be renewed every 5 years.

Please set aside 45 minutes to complete all the requirements. If you log out before you’ve completed the background check or required documents, you will need to contact Paula Mackey, [email protected] or 410-688-2069 to reset your account and complete the training. Please do not use a cell phone or tablet to complete the background check. It will not be processed. If you have questions while registering, the Virtus helpdesk number is: 1-888-847-8870.

Once all requirements have been completed, references returned and background check clears (4-5 business days), we will email clearance to volunteer.
